A downloadable game for Windows and Linux

This was a physics project about black holes and the theories of Einstein. It was partly inspired by the film "Interstellar".

This is a short platformer where you enter a rocket and travel to supermassive black hole M87*. You must traverse the hot accretion disk and descend into the event horizon, and you'll learn about the Big Bang, black holes, and wormholes in the process!

I made this game in just over a week, and I am very proud of it. It is probably my first high-effort project using Godot and almost all the pixel art was done by me, including the tilesets, player, buttons, dialogue boxes, and the rocket. I made the sound effects using bfxr and the music was made using Jummbox. I think my pixel art really improved and I'm happy with how it turned out!

Note that the animated player sprite was originally from HeartBeast's really helpful tutorial on making platformers, but I changed it a bit to make it look like an astronaut. The movement system is from a previous game I never bothered to finish and is also based on HeartBeast's tutorial. Aside from the player movement system, all of the code was done by me using GDScript. I think the dialogue boxes turned out quite well in particular.

I used fonts that were free for personal use from dafont.com (Moonrising for the cutscenes, Cute Pixel for the title and dialogue, Press Start 2P for the menu buttons)
